So, back to racing...we took off and Capt Kirk was off the front, Doug, Pope and I rolled out and had a decent pace. Jason was in the mix and I rode his wheel for most of the race. As you'll see from the video we stayed in that order for most of the race. The legs felt okay, but I needed to pass a few folks to matter in this race and I did not have that much in the tank.
You can hear Seiler mocking me in the foreground....sigh. Kirk nailed 3rd and the rest of us did a fine job as pack fill. doug and the crowd in the vid pulled away from me at the end as I died death #1001. the big news was that MrBain won the open 4's on his birthday!! thats how to celebrate. If only he was old enough to drink. or smoke...or vote..or..crap his mom'll read this so we'll stop by congratulating him politely.
The 3 race had to be held in our abscence...I think they were okay with it.
Seiler, Fatty, Butch and Stierwalt represented the black and white and did so well. Butch and Stierwalt have just upgraded and are getting a feel for the pace in the 3's. Fatty turned in his usual top ten without training, and Seiler?
This picture tells it best.

Nice shot of him taking the sprint for second....sandbagger. It looks like this expanded group of rogueish goodness is going to make for another fun season. Lets face it, we absorbed a preponderance of the peeps we were hanging with last year.
I love the feel of a cross race. Its like being part of a traveling circus.....that has a lot of beer. I was excited to see folks like Tom from shamrock, Trevor(rival!!)and the rest. It was like catching up with family.
We got to ooh and ahhh over cool gear like McShane's Leopard(dead sexy in naked carbon) and JC's tricked out Salsa singlespeed(and sidi tat!) We talked about bike geek type stuff, tires, brakes etc that drive a good spouse bad.
In general, Cross season is back. Now ....do we race Shawnee or hold out for OVCX#2 at Fishstix? Both? Good answer, very nice answer. Stay tuned for more pictures and lots of stressing(by me) over all the little details.
Its what we do.

Sad to have missed the meeting of the Rogues. I saw at least one Rogue woman racing in the pictures. Can't wait to meet and greet.
Nice vid and sounds like good times
Yes, Mr. Bain's mom did read this but I'm only offended that the cookies got no mention :-)
I love the video: Guys wearing colorful tights, carrying colorful bikes, and prancing over yellow ribbons. Very Monty Python.
(I'll conveniently neglect the fact that I couldn't keep up with any of them...)
sherri we alll know youre just waiting to take your shot. Racing Shawnee?
Debbie from now on, when I ask what kind of cookies they are, just tell me to eat the cookie. Oatmeal, peanut butter chocoloate chip cookies are insane. I wouldve eaten the whole container if you had looked the other way.
And there is nothing more Pythonesque than cross. Taking something as historic and overly serious as cycling and making a complete mockery of it by placing it upon the dirt and sneaking in barriers? Thats why its so much fun. Its the kind of pain you forget. Like armed robbery.
I think Michael successfully insulted both of us with one statement...
He's a master of efficiency. Is that what a "bator" is? I understand that he's a master of that as well.
Why sling 2 insults when you only need one?
and yes, I am master of my own domain. King of the castle. Lord of the manor (not the dance).
I feel like Larry sharing the moe-slap with Curly. But not Shemp....and never Curly Joe. That's truly insulting.
dude, nice remount.
thats what she said....or maybe I said it in a girl voice and pretended it was somebody else. damned if I shouldve told that.
